A micro for the brewery with a small selection of their wares plus standard Belgians for takeout. Fairly simple and basic set-up; wood floor, two-tone painted walls. Modern music on for the barmaid's listening. Five craftykeg and a cider on the go plus a dubious stillage cask which I swerved. Went for a couple of the Kettles, neither of which I rated (no surprise I suppose, based on my previous encounters). Didn't get anything out of this one.

Corsham’s newest pub is the Kettlesmith Brewery Tap, the Brewery itself not far away in Bradford-on-Avon. The tap is housed in a former ‘curiosity shop’ a reference to the area’s Dickensian connections, selling bric-a brac, and is spread across three floors joined by steep, narrow stairs – the lavatory is at the top of those stairs in the attic, so this is not a boozer for the faint hearted. The floors are bare, the furniture Spartan, a few tables and chairs packed together which makes for great conversation and interaction with other drinkers. There’s no hot food, but there was a selection of snacks and cookies available. They stock the full range of Kettlesmith’s beers, all excellent but maybe overchilled. We had pints of Timeline, Faultline, Saucery, Blanche de Bruxelles and Sunshine State of Mind and enjoyed them all, even though personally I don’t normally try lager or stout. There was also a session cider on, but again this wasn’t sampled. Time and the need to be able to walk afterwards meant we didn’t try the Wiper and True guest ale from Bristol or the Caroline Double IPA. Coffees were also available, but there was no need to spoil a perfectly good session. The barmaid and a customer who turned out to be her mother were extremely welcoming, there was a real homely atmosphere and the afternoon was thoroughly enjoyable – the perfect start to what turned into a crawl of the whole town, I’d be very happy indeed to come back here, try the other beers and enjoy the company.
